Website Design Description
I made my website design this way because this is what I thought represented Shel Silverstein and his type of writing. Since most of Shel Silverstein's pieces of writing had a friendship relationship and funny moods to them, the background looks like a place where kids would get poems and books read to them(like a park). The visual aspects or the background of the website represents his audience. Shel Silverstein’s books and poems were mostly loved by children because of his rhyme, so the background looks “childish”, and not very professional. The font and the color of the written portion of this website look all the same, and the pictures that are shown at the top of every page does not have many colors either. They are all a dull black and white color because some of Shel’s pieces of writing were very sad and depressing. There is a college of Shel Silverstein at the top of the page (on every page) because I wanted to give a visual to my audience continuously on what he looks like and some of his best works. The format of this website is the way it is because its easy to access what you need, and you can easily go to the places that you need to go to. In the Art/Photography tab, I chose those pictures because they best describe Shel Silverstein's style. When Shel Silverstein was in the U.S. army in 1950, he became a cartoonist, and that was when Shel Silverstein started his first book even though he started writing at a young age. After his time in the army he began starting to writing the books that he is most famous for. Most of the poetry and books that Shel Silverstein has written are read by children because of his style of rhyming while his other books represented a sad and depressed side of him. That is why I chose those pictures shown on the website. The songs that are on my websites are country songs, and they were actually written by Shel Silverstein. I chose these songs because the songs that he wrote best describes his type of style. The songs that he composed were hit country songs, and some of them were even Grammy winning songs that were sung by other famous country singers. That is why I chose those types of songs.
